Welcome!
I’m a writer, editor and comms adviser working with clients in education, law, philanthropy and more.

After a decade as a teacher and 12 years as a communications professional for government departments and a university I decided to focus on what I love – writing – and go freelance. I’ve advised clients in education, academia, health, policing and the law and written a huge range of material including articles, blogs, web copy, speeches, business proposals, even business management books. Having a feature commissioned by The Guardian – and seeing my writing in print and online in that newspaper was the realisation of a dream I’d had for nearly 35 years! I also copy edit material, including the top 100 pages of a leading law firm’s website after a brand refresh or and books (I have two non fiction and one fiction under my belt so far).
I’m great at making dry or difficult topics engaging and accessible. I love tackling new subjects but have bags of experience writing about law, education and academic subjects. Having worked in increasingly senior roles I can bring strategic thinking across a range of media and content. I know how to reach difficult audiences (I taught the toughest audience of all – teenagers – History for 10 years). I can find the hook in a story for mainstream and industry publications and write long form thought leadership pieces: vital in the age of AI summaries in search results. I spent a lot of my career in internal comms so also know the tools, tone and approach to take when connecting with staff.
Isabelle wrote an article perfectly summarising the hour-long presentation that I gave. Her writing was succinct and accurate, and really easy to read. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.

We asked Isabelle to put together an advertising feature for our graduate jobs advice website. She returned earlier than expected with some very snappy, smooth-flowing copy that was absolutely on brief and a pleasure to read. Very professional communication throughout and enthusiastic about the work. Couldn’t recommend her enough.
